For candidates

Someone asked you to verify your identity

Here is exactly what that means, in plain terms. You are not signing up for anything, and you are not being scored.

The short version. An employer or staffing agency asked us to confirm that the mobile number you gave really belongs to you. You enter your name and number, tick a box to agree, and tap a link we text you. It takes about a minute. We never ask for your Social Security number, your date of birth, a photo, or a copy of your ID.

What we ask for, and what we never ask for

We ask for two things

  • Your full name.
  • Your mobile phone number.

That is the whole form.

We never ask for

  • Your Social Security number or date of birth.
  • A selfie, a photo, or a scan of your ID.
  • Bank details, card numbers, or any payment.
  • A password, or access to any account of yours.

If anyone claiming to be VeriAxis asks you for those things, it is not us. Do not send money or account details to anyone in connection with a job application. Contact us at support@veriaxisgroup.com and we will confirm whether a request is genuine.

Your questions, answered

Do I have to do this?

No. Consent is voluntary and you can decline. If you do, we tell the employer only that the check was not completed, and nothing about why. What the employer does next is their decision, not ours, so if the role matters to you it is worth asking them directly what alternatives they accept.

Will this affect my credit score?

No. Identity verification does not touch your credit file and leaves no inquiry of any kind. If an employer separately asks for a credit check, that is a different process, it requires its own separate written authorization from you, and it is carried out by a licensed screening agency, not by us. Even then, an employment credit report does not lower your score, and the employer is not shown your score at all, only a limited history. Several states and cities also prohibit employers from using credit history in hiring altogether.

What does the employer actually see?

One of four outcomes: verified, name mismatch, unverified, or not completed. Plus the name and number you entered and a record of the consent you gave. They do not see your carrier account, your billing information, your location, or anything about your other accounts.

It says my name does not match. Why?

Usually something entirely ordinary: the line is in a spouse's or parent's name, you recently married or changed your name, you entered a nickname, or the carrier record is simply out of date. It is not an accusation. Tell the employer what happened, and if you like, try again with your full legal name exactly as your carrier has it.

It says unverified. Did I do something wrong?

No. Some numbers cannot be checked this way, including landlines, internet calling numbers such as Google Voice, and certain prepaid plans. It says nothing about you. Ask the employer whether they have another way to verify you.

How long do you keep my information?

Ninety days after the employer closes the request, and then it is deleted automatically. You can ask us to delete it sooner using the form below.

Will you text me again or sell my number?

No to both. You get one text with your verification link, and only if you asked for it. We never send marketing messages, and we never sell, rent, or share your number for anyone else's marketing. Reply STOP at any time.
